Wii U External Hard Drive
« on: June 02, 2015, 10:22:17 AM »
I purchased an External Hard Drive at Costco for my Wii U and found out real fast that the USB ports suck.  They cannot provide enough power.

The solution is to purchase one of these:  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005M0ICG2

A USB Y cable uses two USB ports to provide power to the drive instead of one.  Before I purchased this cable my Wii U was crashing because the hard drive was not getting enough power.  Now my Wii U has 1TB of storage for games and data.

Yeah having 917Gb of free storage is a bit over kill but the 1Tb drive was only $60 a Costco.  No reason to even try to find a smaller one just to save $10.
