Do you find the Confederate battle flag offensive? If so, why?

What about the Confederate flag? Offensive?

Did you know the battle flag was NOT the Confederate flag?

I'm not personally offended by it but I understand the sentiment.  I understand why people could be upset by it.   It stands for a rebellion whose roots are entrenched in the economics of slavery.   The south kept slaves as a necessity for their economics.   Which is offensive when you think about it.  Why would someone be so greedy that they would strip an entire race of their freedom for higher profits?

Also, it's been 150 years and arguably one could say the south has still not recovered, with most of the states ranking in the bottom quartile for average income and education.  So I can understand how it's still a sore subject.   Flying the flag is in really poor taste now.

I'm not offended by those flags as well. I also understand why someone could be upset by it.

I don't know about all the war was about slavery stuff. I'm not an expert on the subject. From the little bit I remember from high school(because they only taught a little bit about the Civil War) and stuff I've been reading online the south seceded not because of slavery only. They felt the federal government was overstepping their bounds. If it wasn't about slavery then what was the war about?

I also found this a little while ago. Kind of interesting. I don't know how true any of it is though. http://www.rulen.com/myths/

At least South Carolina moved the flag from the top of their state capital to a flag pole on the ground several years ago; they used to fly it under the US flag.
