I now have a Baofeng UV-5R. Cheap cheap radio. <$30 for one. Bought it mostly for work since we never have available radios or dead batteries. I still work at Walmart but now I'm in asset protection. Basically I'm the guy at the door checking receipts and greeting people. I don't know much of the HAM radio stuff.

Technically if you use that radio for anything other than Ham Radio you are violating FCC rules; and if you use it on Ham frequencies you need a license.

I use it mostly at work. Got tired of looking for a radio and a good battery. Walmart uses MURS frequencies.
